Credit Application Forms

Since there are numerous circumstances in life that require a credit application form, if you haven't completed one yet, you will. They are necessary for major purchases, student loans, store credit, and there are even instances where a credit application is required even if no credit is being extended. Today's business world bases many decisions on their customer's prior credit history and without credit application forms, they simply can't gather the necessary information to make informed decisions. Further, many employers are now investigating potential employers' credit history as well.

When completing a credit application form, you may be asked to provide any or all of the following information.

Personal information is always included. Your name, previous and current addresses, contact numbers, date of birth, and social security number.

When filling out a credit application form, you may want to consider an ACH account. Electronic payments are a good way to make payments on time. Using electronic check processing or other types of payment processing can help improve your credit rating.

Employment history including the names of the companies you have worked for and supervisor's names for the past 7 to 10 years. You may also be required to provide current proof of income. If you are active duty or a retired military personnel, you could qualify for military loans from the military loan company.

If you do not own a home, you may be asked to provide your rental history along with landlord's names and numbers to verify rental payment history.

You are also likely to be asked to provide the name of current creditors and what your monthly payments are to each.

Regardless of the information you provide on a credit application form, you must sign the form to grant permission for your credit report to be reviewed. If your purpose for completing a credit application form demands a credit check, such as obtaining a mortgage or purchasing a new car, be absolutely certain that the information you provide is as thorough and accurate as possible. Also, keep in mind that if personal or professional references are requested, be sure to not only list people who you have a strong and respectable history with, but also inform them individually that they may be contacted and why.
